Gigondas' vineyards are located only in the eponymous commune. Gigondas is only 1/3 the size of Châteauneuf; though still large, it makes 400,000 cases of wine a year, as opposed to millions.
WINE OF THE WEEK:
Domaine du Cayron 2011 Gigondas is a blend of 70% Grenache, 15% Cinsault, 14% Syrah and a splash of Mourvedre. This is among the most age-worthy of Gigondas, delicious upon release, but improving for well over a decade and holding strong for a long time thereafter. 92 points Wine Advocate.< Click here to learn more
