Cafaro Cellars is a small production operation from the Napa Valley and is run by winemaker and proprietor Joe Cafaro.  Cafaro produces only red wines, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah from his estate vineyards.  The vineyards are a total of 15 acres.   

Joe has been in the wine business for over 35 years.  He started consulting in 1984 and while consulting started Cafaro Cellars in 1986.  Joe and his wife bought their first vineyards in 1996 and in 2001 all of the wines produced were from 100% estate fruit. Ultimately Joe’s goal is to produce wines that are elegant, balanced and structured.  With only using estate fruit he has the greatest control over the vineyards which greatly influences the final product.

You will notice that the Cafaro wines are a couple vintages behind most of our other California producers.  This is because Joe ages his wines an additional 2-3 years in bottle before release.
