Historical documents trace the ownership of this property by the Llopart family to 1385 AD. Leopardi is the Latinized version of the Catalan name, Llopart. The family has been in the winemaking business for over six centuries. In 1887 the Llopart family released the first Cava. This makes them the second oldest Cava house in Spain. Today the family carries on the long tradition of fine winemaking and artisan craftsmanship.
The winery is located in Subirats, Penedes, Catalonia. Grapes are sourced on a hilltop (930 ft. in elevation) in the town of Subirats, 4km south of the town of Sant Sadurni d 'Anoia, farmed organically. The soil is Calcareous clay topped with stones and sand clay. The climate of the region has Mediterranean influences.
