Freeman Vineyard & Winery is the culmination of a 20-year dream shared by Ken and Akiko Freeman to craft elegant cool climate California Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in a sophisticated, Burgundian style. They bought the Sebastopol winery in 2001 and produced their first vintage in 2002. This area has cool nights and warm days, a wonderful climate for growing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

The Sonoma Coast and Russian River Pinot Noir’s from Freeman are very different in style for a couple reasons.  The Sonoma Coast has a strong coastal influence that promotes a long cool growing season that results in a lighter bodied Pinot Noir.  Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley sees much warmer weather and results in a riper, full-bodied wine.  In the end the Freeman’s set out to make a group of wines that are balanced, elegant and lastly, very food friendly.
