Betty O’Shaughnessy and family began the search for the perfect mountainside land that would produce a full flavored Cabernet Sauvignon.  After purchasing the land in 1996 their challenge was to plant vineyards while maintaining 60% of the natural vegetation mandated by their building permit.  The vineyard consists of 29 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, and 6 acres of the blending varietals, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Malbec.

O’Shaughnessy produces one Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon that express the unique character of their vineyard and of the Howell Mountain area.  Winemaker, Sean Capiaux (winemaker for Capiaux Cellars), uses a winemaking style that is contemporary,  and utilizes cutting edge fermentation equipment paired with natural, hands on winemaking.
