Outpost was established in 1998 in one of the world’s great Zinfandel growing regions, Howell Mountain .  The hard, rocky red soil, high altitude, gentle cooling breezes and sunny western exposure produces fruit of incredible intensity and richness.Outpost creates 100 percent varietal Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah and Grenache from their 42 acre farm that is organically maintained.

 

Winemaker, Thomas Brown (previous winemaker for Turley Cellars and current winemaker for Schrader Cellars), harvests very late in the season to preserve full intensity and character of the grapes. Each block of vineyard is fermemted separately so that the winemaking team can be very selective about the lots that comprise the final blends. They are working towards producing remarkable wines that come from an incredible place high above the Napa Valley .
