Allan Scott Wines & Estates Ltd is a family owned and operated vineyard and winery group. The company was founded in 1990 although the family’s history in winegrowing began in 1975 when they planted their first vineyard as a contract grower. Allan began his viticultural career in 1973 as a vineyard manager for a national wine company until shifting allegiance to a rival company, firstly establishing vineyards in the Rapaura district, then taking a senior role as Viticultural Manager with responsibilities of the group’s grape intake from all the New Zealand wine regions, as well as being part of the winemaking team.

In 1985 the family decided to sell their original vineyard and purchased a new site in the Rapaura district where they developed their first block of Sauvignon Blanc. One year later they purchased another established vineyard across the road where the winery now stands. Since then the family has acquired more land in close proximity and established further vineyards in the favored areas of the Marlborough province.
