The ownership of this winery is shared between the Alonso and Yerro families.  This winery is the result of a lifelong dream of the owners: to make an excellent wine in an extraordinary area of vineyards as it is Ribera del Duero, and to be able to enjoy their work. Thus in 2002 they bought the vineyards and built Viñedos Alonso del Yerro. Stephane Derenoncourt was hired for everything related to the vineyard and production. 

The winery is located in Roa ( Burgos ).  Grapes are sourced from four individual plots. The soil is composed from many different types, mainly rich clay and limestone.  Climate here is harsh continental.
