The “Helmut Hexamer” estate is located in the commune of Meddersheim in the Nahe wine-growing region in Germany. It has been run by Harald Hexamer Jr. since 1999. The vineyard area totals about 32 acres, with holdings in the following sites: Altenberg and Rheingrafenberg (Meddersheim), Marbach (Sobernheim), as well as In den Felsen (Schloßböckelheim).
60% of the area is planted with Riesling (20 acres), the remainder is planted with Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Müller-Thurgau, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Madeleine, Pinot Gris, Domina, Regent, Bacchus and Kerner. The aim is to produce fruity wines typical of the variety that reflect the character of the soil. The white wines are matured exclusively in stainless steel tanks, a yeast selected on the estate itself is used to start fermentation. Both traditional oak barrels and barriques are used to mature the red wines. Ice wine is also produced when vintage conditions permit.
