The fertile and mostly very flat peninsula of Puglia extends towards Greece as Italy’s easternmost point. Though consistently hot and dry, breezes from the Adriatic and Ionian seas provide aeration and coolness; this particular climate along with old-vine plantings has made the area immensely attractive to outside winemaking investors, from Tuscany’s Antinori to producers from as far afield as Australia. The Perrone Capano family has owned the estate since the early 19th century and have been estate bottling for the last 20 years.
