The farm was established in 1935, Matteo Correggia took up the management in 1985 and began a quest to put Roero on the map. His first releases in 1987 of Nebiolo Val dei Preti, Barbera d'Alba Marun and Anthos will always be remembered as very important moments in the history and development of Roero.
This area is typically know for the production of Arneis in the sandy, mineral rich soils just north of Alba, on the other side of the Tanaro river. However, Matteo knew Roero could produce a profound and special expression of Nebbiolo. He grew the family estate to 20Ha and by the end of the 90's had solidified Correggia as one of the Langhe's best red wine producers.
His tragic death in 2000 meant his wife Ornella had to bring the family together and continue in Matteo's footsteps. At first many producers came to help the family because of their close ties and great respect for Matteo, Giorgio Rivetti from La Spinetta - Elio Altare and many others assisted in the transition. However, today Ornella has formed a close knit and skilled team with Luca Rostango, Paolo Sandri and Sara Palma. Together they have fulfilled many of Matteo's dreams for the estate and have even built on the reputation of making hand crafted, high quality wines that are very representative of Roero.
