The grapes come from old vines vineyards, 60-80 years-old, and located high on the hillsides: 3,000 ft above sea level, around Calatayud. The vineyards are planted in principally decomposed slate and gravely clay soils. Even though there is very little rainfall in the region (around 350ml per year), the clay is at depth which allows the vines to obtain moisture and be dry grown.
