Ramirez de la Piscina Reserva (100% Tempranillo) reveals considerable amber at the edge. It is an evolved, soft, round, nuanced effort displaying sweet strawberry and cherry fruit along with smoky tobacco leaf, incense, and earthy characteristics.Grapes are harvested from 19.2 acres of 26-yr-old vineyards oriented to the south on calcareous clay and calcareous soil with sandy rocks.  Open vat fermentation with whole clusters. The wine was aged for 2 years in American oak.

Medium red. Earthy red fruit, floral and underbrush aromas, with a strong lashing of vanillin oak. Sweet raspberry and kirsch flavors offer impressive depth, with a chewy texture and a long, velvety finish. Distinctly oaky, but there's ample fruit to back it up.
