Winemaker's Notes: "2007 was the first of several droughty years with only 60% of normal rainfall. Warm weather in March resulted in an early bud-break but a long moderate to cool summer lengthened the ripening season nicely and yielded wonderful natural acidity in the grapes. After a short heat spike at the end of August the weather turned cool again for the rest of the season. Picking was leisurely. It was one of those vintages that made winemaking look easy."

May 2007
"Deep red-ruby. Aromas of blackberry and cassis, with hints of leather and meat. Juicy, firm and tightly wound, but with noteworthy intensity to its flavors of red and blue fruits complicated by licorice and herbs. Finishes dry and classic, with lingering suggestions of boysenberry, tobacco and iron."
