The vineyards are located in Berlangas de Roa, La Horra (Burgos) at an altitude of 2,300ft (700m). The vineyards are a combination of trained and vaso vines with no irrigation. The soils are stony and sandy and poor in organic material. Yields are very low.
Inky ruby. Suave dark berries and cinnamon on the nose, with a lashing of sexy oak spice. Creamy red and dark berry flavors offer impressive depth and clarity, with soft tannins adding support. Finishes sweet and impressively long.
The grapes were hand-harvested, and then brought to triage tables at the winery. They were fermented in stainless-steel tanks and cement vats. Temperature controlled fermentation for 7 days and extended maceration for 30-40 days. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation in new oak barrels, and aged in (80%) French and (20%) American oak barrels for 13 months. The wine was bottled unfiltered.
